As an MC you really have to connect with the crowd in front of you. You need to be able to read the crowd and perform accordingly.
Since a young age I have always been able to do this and now as an adult it truly comes naturally. Expressing respect across the board to all in attendance at the event has truly been detrimental in bringing the great professional vibes I offer at any event.
I do go around in the general public to speak with those in attendance as well as those who have purchased booths. It so great to give the lime light to some in the general public and to those that have purchased booths. Giving them a platform to show off their hard work is a must at all shows. This brings the more personable and relatable vibes to the event. If everyone is having a good time then we are doing it right and opening the doors for future events.
With all these events one part that I have become very found off is the junior handler categories. See the future generation show how much work they have put in with their dogs and show out in the ring is simply motivational. At every event I do a special category thats just for the kids and provide a junior handler with a gift package.
My endgame goal is to make every one at the event feel appreciated. I make sure to show love to all that come and support the shows I am part of because at the end of the day we are a community and unity is what keeps us strong.
I have 20 plus years in the dog industry and from all walks. I have bred dogs, worked with rescues, grooming and showed dogs. I was a junior handler and as I became an adult I also showed dogs in multiple registry's I have gone to multiple shows across multiple states to learn from various different judges. I studied the standards of many breeds over time and I am knowledgable about dogs overall.
I started judging Fun shows 5 years ago and now have judged well over 20 shows small and big. I truly have a passion for judging because people come to the shows to learn. They want to know they are breeding to improve the breed. Opening the floor to discussing different physical attributes like top line, nose placement, hocks and even gait of the dog is important to take advantage off to move this amazing breed in a positive way.
At many of these shows people are unaware which categories to get into. When you hire me the passion runs deep so I do offer to be at registration to talk with everyone and answer questions as needed. Coming to the show date I also go live on instagram in the mornings which we discuss shows and what I look for when judging. While at the show I take time to explain why one dog won over another. Taking this time and doing this over the years has created long term relationships. I have watched people have an ok dog at a show then be inspired and come back with an amazing dog that stands out every time.
The dog community is my place and I will alwayshelp to educate for the better because at the end of the day if we do bad it's the dog that pays and they do not deserve that.
